Watch Rally launch on stage here.
This interview with Rally founders Alex Ratner and Tyler Costantino was conducted by the team at Job Portraits during preparations for the LAUNCH Festival.
Let’s start with your elevator pitch.
Rally is the best way to plan, share, and relive your night out.
It's a social app dedicated entirely to what happens at night. It’s about knowing who's available, planning, and sharing content with those people, then retracing what happened the next day... all easier than ever before.
Why this problem and why are you the right people to tackle it?
Facebook is a great place to share content, but many of the photos are pre-approved, or posted weeks after they were taken. Rally is for communicating in the moment.
There are also group apps. I’m in 25 different GroupMe’s, but I have to mute or leave them because they become difficult to manage and people end up overlapping. We believe there’s a connection between knowing who's actually available tonight and being able to make plans without having to use a variety of different apps. If we can get those two things right, along with some other features we've included, we’ll have something people will use on a nightly basis.
As for us, we’ve always been intrigued by the nightlife space. It's an unexplored time — so many existing social platforms stop being relevant after 6pm — and that needs to be reformed. We want to be the ones to change it.
The day after LAUNCH, what are you hoping happens? What's the next step?
We want to have enough feedback from users that we can really nail down the features people love.
