Watch PreHire launch on stage here.
This interview with PreHire founders Darren Nix (right) was conducted by the Job Portraits team for LAUNCH Festival.
What is the product you developed for the LAUNCH Hackathon? What does it do and how does it work?
PreHire uses fully automated job simulations to give managers the ability to select the right candidate for the right job... cheaply, quickly, and fairly.
Imagine that you’re a hiring manager who’s trying to hire ten entry-level customer service reps to respond to emails, update accounts, and handle simple inbound phone calls. Resume screens and behavioral interviews aren’t going to tell you which candidates are fast, accurate, good on the phone, and professional with customers. You know what will? Job simulations.
How old is the idea and how did your team come together?
The idea grew out of our experiences at 42Floors over the last six month. We were trying to select candidates for entry-level data entry and customer service roles. We found that we were doing a great job of hiring "culture fits" and a terrible job of evaluating skill. So our team is all 42Floors engineers and we've been working together for the last two years.
What's next? What happens after LAUNCH Festival in an ideal world?
We're talking to customers right now and figuring out who will be our alpha launch partners. We expect to have candidates running through an early version of PreHire in a few weeks.
