Watch Mixmax launch on stage here.
This interview with Mixmax founders Brad Vogel (left), Olof Mathé (center), and Chanpory Rith (right) was conducted by the Job Portraits team during the LAUNCH Festival.
What are you guys up to? Give us your elevator pitch.
Mixmax is a communications platform that lets you bring apps into email.
How did you decide on this problem?
We're really passionate about communication tools. The team has previously built communications products at Gmail, Skype, and WebOS, and before Mixmax we all worked together on an authoring product. A large part of Mixmax is creating these incredible, action-enabled experiences that work in email, and that’s exactly our background.
How has the LAUNCH Festival experience been, especially with the opportunity to go up on stage?
Well, we haven’t gone on stage yet. That’s in an hour! We’ve just been in the demo pit so far, and it’s been really fun. For us it's been mainly good in terms of BD. Mixmax is not just a standalone product — you can actually use it as an SDK.
So far we’ve done some bespoke email apps for people, but soon you won't need any handholding from us. Companies will be able to embed it in their own products to have, for example, an incredible authoring experience where you can send interactive emails. A lot of people have shown interest in that.
