Watch Crowdcast launch on stage here.
This interview with Crowdcast founder Cy Hossain was conducted by the team at Job Portraits during preparations for the LAUNCH Festival.
Could you start off with your elevator pitch?
When people ask me that, I usually ask back: “Have you ever done a webinar before?” And the answer is almost always, “Yeah, and it was awful.”
Crowdcast is the best webcast experience you can have.
And why are you the right person to be solving this problem?
I was doing a lot of webinars and I found the experience to be really difficult. It made me curious: how can this be so bad? For example, some webcast tools make it hard to talk to the host. And why is it usually so difficult to meet the other participants?
I looked around and realized there wasn't a good solution, and that all of the big guys were working with enterprise companies. Enterprise companies don't design with empathy and they don't know how to interact with regular web users. I'm a designer by trade and I learned to become a programmer, so with Crowdcast I’m applying everything I know to build a great product for regular people.
What happens after LAUNCH? How does March go in your ideal world?
Oh, it's busy. The main thing is making sure I can deliver the best experience when everyone is looking. That’s not a simple task as a single founder, so in March I’ll also be looking for teammates. I’ll have my eyes open for amazing people who are excited about the technical difficulties around video streaming. I’m also hoping to bring on somebody in a marketing role.
